Nope, does not offend me. I'm used to people saying such things to me.
Well, that and the best art I can do is lost in a black hole somewhere in my room.
The thing is, I can figure out what can be fixed in someone else's art, but I have no idea how to translate this into my own artwork. I don't work with half the mediums I critique on anyways (digital, oil paints, etc.). On the other hand, I can tell if this-that-or-the-other-thing could be gotten rid of to make the thing look better, or if the shading is to choppy or blah blah blah. I'm looking on it in a way that I can't look at my own work, because I fear being biased or something along those lines.
